Features / Privacy-First Analytics

Real visitor data.
No cookies. No consent banner.

Wiley tracks how people actually use your site — without cookies, without storing anything personal, and without asking anyone for permission. You get honest behavioral coaching without the compliance headache.

What Wiley tracks — and what it doesn't

What Wiley tracks

  • Pages visited and in what order
  • Time on page and session length
  • How far down the page people scroll
  • Where visitors came from
  • Campaign links (UTM parameters)
  • First page visited and last page before leaving
  • Device type — phone, tablet, desktop
  • Outbound link clicks
  • Whether the page was a 404

What Wiley never collects

  • IP addresses
  • Cookies of any kind
  • Names, emails, or account data
  • Anything that identifies a specific person
  • Cross-site tracking data
  • Form contents
  • Precise location
  • Anything sold to third parties

How Wiley identifies sessions without cookies

Most analytics tools use cookies to remember a visitor from one page to the next. Wiley doesn't. Instead, it creates a short-lived session token that tells it nothing about the person — just that two pageviews are part of the same visit. That token expires automatically and is never stored in a way that connects to an individual.

The result is accurate data about how people use your site — enough to give you real coaching — without any personal information passing through the system. There's nothing to consent to, and nothing that needs to be deleted if someone asks.

The entire tracking script One line. No external dependencies.
<script src="https://ingest.fromwiley.com/w.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_ID" defer></script>

Paste it into your <head> once. That's the whole installation.

What this means for compliance

What is GDPR?

Europe's main privacy law. It requires websites to get explicit consent before collecting personal data about EU visitors — and to be able to delete it on request. Because Wiley doesn't collect personal data at all, there's nothing to consent to and nothing to delete.

GDPR

No personal data means nothing to consent to, nothing to report if there's a breach, and nothing to hand over if someone makes a request. Wiley collects aggregate behavior, not personal records.

No action required

CCPA / CPRA

Wiley doesn't sell personal information — because it doesn't have any. The "Do Not Sell My Info" requirement doesn't apply here. Nothing to disclose, nothing to opt out of.

No action required

Cookie banners

No cookies means no banner. Visitors who use cookie blockers don't disappear from your data either — Wiley doesn't rely on cookies, so blockers don't affect it.

No banner needed

Data storage

All data lives in Cloudflare's infrastructure in the United States. Behavioral data is aggregated — Wiley stores patterns across your site, not a log of every individual session forever.

Where this data shows up

This behavioral data is what powers Traffic Connections — Wiley correlating a real site change against a real move in your numbers, not just reporting the number in isolation.

Traffic strong

Hero CTA moved from position 1 to position 4 in the layout — visits held steady, but the button that used to convert stopped getting clicked.

Common questions

Can I use Wiley alongside Google Analytics?

Yes. Wiley and Google Analytics can run on the same site without getting in each other's way. Some people use Wiley instead of GA (especially when they want to drop the consent banner), others run both. Wiley doesn't require you to remove anything that's already there.

Will ad blockers block Wiley's script?

Some aggressive content blockers may block any analytics script. Wiley's script runs from a domain we control rather than a shared third-party domain, which reduces blocking compared to tools like Google Analytics. In practice, very little traffic is affected.

What if I'm on the Free plan — do I get analytics?

The Free plan uses crawl-based coaching only — no visitor tracking. The tracking script and full behavioral data come with all paid plans. You can try the script during your 7-day trial on any paid plan.

Does Wiley work on members-only or password-protected pages?

The tracking script runs on any page where it's installed, including protected ones. Wiley's crawl layer only reads public pages — but the two work together, so you get behavioral data on every page and crawl coaching on the ones anyone can reach.
